I've been a Prada fan for as long as I can remember. The love affair probably started when I was 22 and received by first paycheck – I hurried to a Prada store to get my hands on the iconic Tessuto nylon bag with the gold chain. Now almost 6 years later, I still use that bag to the gym.

Utility. What do you need the luggage for? Will you be taking short or long trips? Will you be taking the airplane, traveling by car, or perhaps on a boat?
Size. Bigger is NOT always better. While giant bags and luggage hold more, they are also heavier even when they're empty. Airlines impose weight limits on baggage, so you should rethink buying gargantuan bags unless you really need to bring a lot of stuff. Try going for a medium bag. It will force you to travel lighter, which is always great.
Fabrication. Prada luggage that is made of durable nylon is much lighter than leather and is also less sensitive to the elements. I personally recommend nylon bags (and use them myself) because you never have to worry about them getting scratched or wet. Prada's line of leather luggage and handbags are very stylish, though, so if you're going on luxury trips (read: no “roughing it up”), then a leather Prada tote may be a good option.
