ATV Spreader : What is it?
| ATV spreaders distribute seeds, grains, or fertilizers over farm or garden soil. They consist of barrel- or cone-shaped containers, also called hoppers, and feed gate controllers that allow users to control the range and amount of seed dispensed over an area. They are placed at the rear of the ATV, either behind the seat or attached to a trailer hitch. |

Kinds of ATV Spreaders include the following: |
Broadcast spreaders Broadcast spreaders throw seeds from the container within a preset radius. Most models have a throw distance of up to eight feet. They are used for large areas such as farms and hunting grounds. Drop spreaders Drop spreaders dispense seeds straight down, directly below the hopper. The seeds are spread at about the same width as the hopper opening. They are used for spot fertilizing and in smaller areas, such as lawns and gardens.

Hopper material. Choose an ATV spreader with a plastic hopper for spreading chemical fertilizers. These are more resistant to corrosion than metal hoppers. For heavy applications, choose a lightweight aluminum hopper that can withstand constant use and heavy loads. Feed gate. Choose an ATV spreader with an electric feed gate to better control high-capacity hoppers. Smaller hoppers are more easily controlled with manual feeders. |
