Bassinet Bedding : What is it?
Bassinet beddings line bassinets, which are designed to hold newborn babies who are unable to sit or crawl. Bassinets are shaped like deep, elongated baskets and made of wood or stiffened wicker. There are two bassinet sizes - standard and jumbo. Standard bassinets have mattress pads (beddings) measuring 13 by 29 inches, while jumbo bassinets have beddings that measure 16 by 33 inches. Bassinets are usually mounted on movable stands, and can be unmounted to be placed on beds or changing tables.

Cushioning. Choose a bassinet bedding with thick, soft linens. Look for wool, down, or silk blankets for maximum comfort. Choose organic cotton linens to avoid allergic reactions. Make sure there are no sharp reeds sticking out of the walls. Hoods. Choose a bassinet bed with a folding hood for easier transport. Permanent hoods can get in the way when you pick up or lay down your baby. Stability. Choose a bassinet bed with a wide, steady base to minimize rocking. Make sure it will not tip over when the baby moves or kicks. Look for one that comes with a ring base, or get a separate base to provide support. |
