Good diaper but STINKY! - Mom of 3, Apr 29, 2008

When I first purchased these diapers I absolutely loved them but after a few months of use they stunk so bad as soon as they got wet I could hardly use them. I tried everything, multiple washings, different detergent, even bleaching (recommended by the company) none of which worked. I ended up buying some prefolds and thirsty covers and they have yet to get that stinky smell. My sister also purchased some bum genius diapers with the exact same result and is now trying to get a refund. As far as cuteness, ease of use and stopping leaks these are great. Would probably be fine for a breast fed baby not eating solids yet or for a night time wetter only.

Ok, I'll use them! - JD, Apr 20, 2008

These are so much better than the first cloth diapers we used that I don't mind using them. Easy to change and they don't leak easily. They take a long time to dry so turn around use time means you need several sets. I also like how they adjust.

Great for first timer - Senae R. Smith, Apr 13, 2008

I never thought about using cloth diapers until very recently. My daughter is 22 months old and will be out of diapers soon (hopefully). I am now expecting baby boy. My initial thought of cloth diapering was that it would be gross, a lot of work, and not as effective. I found out about BG diapers though, & decided to give cd'ing a try for environmental reasons. Financially it's great too. These diapers are awesome. I've been using them for a few weeks now. Maybe a month. I've only had a few leaks which I had with disposables occasionally as well. The diapers are easy to care for. I remove the liners & put the diapers & liners in a plastic container with tight fitting lid throughout the day & wash them all at night once my daughter goes to bed. It's simple laundry . . . no sorting, etc. So it has not been a hassle for me. I use biodegradable diaper liners that catch the poop, so I don't have a big mess to clean out of the diapers. My daughter has a healthy bottom- no rash or redness, and I am very surprised at how easy it is. These diapers are great quality. They are thick & absorbant, well made, and very easy to use. They're incredibly soft and it's so neat how they can go from tiny to big. My daughter is 34 in tall and weighs 26 lb. They fit her very well, and she seems comfortable in them. It's worth the extra laundry to me to keep 2,500 diapers out of the landfill a year. I very very highly recommend these diapers. At $18 a piece, if you buy 12, that's $216. If you were to buy a $15-$20 pack of disposable diapers twice a month, that's $360-$480 a year on diapers. So cloth diapering does save money even though at first it seems like a lot to spend. Also, you are not supposed to use ointment or powder with the diapers (it could make them less absorbant), but if you need to use these products, you can just use liners so that the ointment or powder does not get on the actual diaper. The liners I bought can be found at http://www.cottonbabies.com/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=702

Not so Genius - R. Peret, Apr 05, 2008

I bought these as I was told they would last through multiple children with the different sizes. It didn't take long for the velcro tabs to fray, the colors to fade, and the elastic around the legs to let go. I have washed these diapers according the manufacturers directions, including not putting them in the dryer. They lasted about 6 months with light to moderate use. The fuzzibunz I bought at the same time which have seen more use have withstood the test of time - don't waste your time with bum"Genius".

Easy Cloth! - C. Brook, Mar 30, 2008

I could not believe how easy these cloth diapers are to use. While they are a little bulky, they are super cute and super absorbent. With my son's disposable diapers I was changing him once at night and he was still waking up wet. When I used the Bum Genius with a typical insert and doubler, he woke up dry! I couldn't believe how well the cloth contains messy poop diapers as well. We have yet to experience leaks.
