Rating : Love this pump - Stephanie Davis, May 20, 2008
This pump is AWESOME!!! I got mine in great shipping time, the noise that everyone talkes about is minimal unless you are in a super quiet room to even notice it. My only suggestion is that if you have larger nipples is to buy the custom flanges also. Other than that the tote is great and holds alot of extra equipment. I completely recommend this pump over the more pricey ones especially if you are going back to work.
Rating : Awesome pump! - J. Peters, May 08, 2008
I've been using this pump for two months and I really like it. My baby won't pull enough milk from me so I have to pump six times a day, so I've really used it a lot and had no problems. The main reason I like it is you don't have to worry about sterilizing the tubing. Because of the way it's designed, no milk can get into the tubing. This makes it a lot easier to upkeep.
I've tried nursing at times to see if my baby will do better and during one of these times, my milk supply went down, but all I had to do was increase my pumpings from every 2.5 to 3 hours to every 2 (while I was awake), and soon my milk supply was back up and I was able to go back to 2.5 to 3 hours again.
One reason I chose it is I used an Ameda pump in the hospital. The pump kit I got there can be used with this, so I have spare parts in case I lose something, which I really like, or I can buy another kit at the local lactation clinic for only $9. When I bought mine, I couldn't find the pump at a local store, so I ordered it on the Internet, and then found out later that the exact same pump is put out by Lansinoh (but is purple instead of green) and is sold locally.
Also, I found out later that Avent has a conversion kit you can buy so if you use Avent bottles, you can use it so you don't have to transfer the milk from the Ameda bottles to the Avent bottles every time, which is really nice. Overall, I really like this pump and hope to get a lot of use out of it. It's a good pump for the price and way cheaper than buying formula!
Rating : Still going strong after 20+ months! - sunnie1, May 01, 2008
I love my Ameda and highly recommend it. It's a great value compared to the Medela. I pumped for my first child for 18 months. I am now pumping again after the arrival of my second child in March, and I haven't had any issues at all. I usually pump for 30 minutes at a stretch, 3-5 times a day, so it's seen a lot of use! I think the previous reviewer is definitely the exception. Should this pump break down, and I really don't expect it to, I would buy another one right away.
Rating : Excellent pump! - L. Rodriguez, Apr 10, 2008
I love this pump! When I had my first child, I owned a medela single pump and that was a nightmare. Luckily i was with my daughter ALL OF THE TIME! When I became pregnant with my son, I knew things would be a little different because I now had a job, school and a 2 year old running around. I researched this pump and I was still leaning towards the Medela because I thought it was the best. I bought this pump and have not regretted it yet. I have had it for six months and I continue to use it daily. I am going to replace the valves for the second time in six months but i believe it is so worth it since the diaphragms prevent bacteria and milk from entering the pump. I love this pump it is gentle yet efficient and contrary to another post, I don't find it to be loud at all, my medela sigle was much louder and not as efficient. I usually pump for 5-10 minutes and can collect 4-6 ounces per breast! Get this pump it'll be worth its weight in gold, have you seen the prices of formula? Two months formula free will definitely justify the price of this pump, besides BREAST is BEST! =0)
Rating : worst product ever! - Debora McGuire, Mar 04, 2008
After a lot of comparisons and reading reviews I chose the Ameda Purely Yours Dual Electric Breastpump before my daughter was born and paid over $200 for the damn thing. The motor burnt out after less then 3 months of use. I called Hollister and they sent me a replacement base (took 3 days had to stay home sick from work) The 2nd base just did the same thing after again less then 3 months of use. I told them that I need the pump to be overnighted Saturday delivery and it didn't show-up until Monday again needed to take time off so I could be home for my daughter to nurse and now the AC Adaptor broke and the damn thing is weak on batteries. Nothing but a headache.
