Guide to Triple Bunk Beds

Triple Bunk Bed : What is it?

Triple Bunk Beds

Triple bunk beds are usually made of solid hardwood for durability and stability; however, there is an increasing number of metal triple bunks that are usually cheaper and easier to assemble. This bed configuration is ideal for siblings sharing one bedroom or college students living in dormitories where space is limited. Triple bunk beds are available in standard and loft models to suit different room spaces.

You can buy a ready-made or ready-to-assemble triple sleeper, but you can also have one made especially for your unqiue room layout and requirements.  There are also stackable triple bunk beds available, which can be dismounted into three seperate beds when the sleeping arrangements change.

Types of Triple Bunk Beds

Kinds of Triple Bunk Beds include the following:

Standard triple bunk beds

The most durable standard triple bunk beds are usually made of solid hardwood like pine, maple, mahogany, cherry, and oak. They have solid side panels or guardrails to prevent children from falling off. Some models can be separated into three beds, (typically twin size), making them great for changing needs.

Triple bunk bed lofts

Loft-type triple bunks consist of two levels. The top level is made with two intersecting beds, and the bottom level consists of a single bed with extra space on the side for a study table and drawers. Most triple bunk beds lofts are made of solid hardwood like pine, maple, mahogany, cherry, and oak.

Choosing Triple Bunk Beds (Buying tips)

Sleeping space: Choose a standard triple bunk bed for younger children. A larger twin or extra long triple bunk bed is more ideal for high school and college kids.

Room size: Choose a standard triple bunk bed if you have a narrow bedroom. If you want to maximize your bedroom space, get a triple bunk bed loft designed with a built-in study area and drawers.

Options: Choose a triple bunk bed that you can dismantle into three single beds, allowing you to move each bed into each of your children’s rooms when they become old enough to have their own rooms.
