Full-grain leather belts Full-grain leather belts are not sanded, allowing them to retain their natural grain for better fiber strength and durability. They are naturally breathable and comfortable, making them ideal for snug-fitting pants. They wear out better than other types of leather and develop a dark shade, called a patina, over the years. Corrected-grain leather belts
Corrected-grain leather belts have had the hair and natural grain removed and replaced with an artificial grain. The treated side is smooth and polished, while the back is dull and fuzzy. They are usually heavily painted to conceal the sanding and stamping marks. Suede belts Suede belts are made from the inner layers of a split animal hide. They are cheaper than other leathers because several belts may be made from a single piece of hide. They are fuzzy on both sides, but are sometimes treated to smooth out one side and achieve the look of full-grain leather.
