Portfolio Case : What is it?

Also called a presentation case, a binder, or a presentation book, a portfolio case is a carrying case designed for keeping papers, photos, documents, or other flat sheets for presentation to clients, employees, or prospective employers. It is made up of thin and clear plastic sheets bound between a front and back cover. The plastic sheets are open on top, allowing paper or photos to be inserted easily.

Kinds of Portfolio Cases include the following:

Book style portfolio case

A book style portfolio case opens like a book. The covers and plastic sheets are bound together by pressing, stitching, or by a ring binder.  It is usually carried by hand or under the arm. Sometimes, the photos or paper sheets need to be taped inside the plastic sheets to prevent them from slipping out. Also, book style portfolio case are susceptible to spills.

Close zipper portfolio case

This type of portfolio can be closed with a zipper. This construction gives it added protection from liquid spills and moisture.

Easel binder portfolio case

An easel binder portfolio case is a great presentation tool because it can be used for storing, organizing, and presenting photos or drawings to a group of people. It can be formed to have a base for easy propping up on the boardroom table, the client’s desk, or even the lap.  
Portfolio carry case

A portfolio carry case has more space for carrying bulky folders and portfolios. It is type of attaché case designed to protect artworks. However, the artworks have to be mounted on boards before putting them inside the case to prevent them from crumpling.

Choosing Portfolio Cases (Buying Tips)

Size:  To get the proper size, choose a portfolio case that leaves a two-inch border around the largest sample you want to present.

Pockets:
  Choose a portfolio case with internal and external compartments for storing paper, pens, and other items you may need for your presentation.  

Cartridge:  Choose a portfolio case with a removable cartridge for adding inserts or sheets of clear plastic, and for rearranging the presentation sequence.
