Antispyware software detects spyware from a computer system. Spyware is a malicious program that collects a user’s personal information through the Internet to be used for pop-up ads, spam mail, and identity and financial theft. Antispyware programs can block spyware or delete existing spyware from the system. It is sometimes integrated with an antivirus suite, which includes internet monitoring and antispam functions.
Kinds of Antispyware Software include the following:
Real-time protection
Real-time protection software can detect attempts by spyware to enter or install itself in the computer. It blocks pop-ups and other suspicious links that may trigger the installation of spyware.
Detection and removal
Detection and removal software removes existing spyware from a computer. It inspects the contents of the operating system registry, checking the OS files and installed programs.
Updates: Always get the latest version of antispyware software, allowing it to detect new or evolved breeds of spyware that may not be detected by older versions. Also, look for auto-update and auto-scheduling capabilities that automatically update your software.
