Backup software creates copies of computer files for later retrieval when the computer or hard drive crashes. It can back up all sorts of files, including documents, media, and application software. It is recommended for home and office computers containing confidential or protected information, such as financial statements and medical records.
Traditional backup software backs up general computer files, including selective backup for critical files. It usually saves data on a CD or DVD in data disc format. It has limited storage capacity, making it unsuitable for drive imaging and system recovery.
Drive mirroring backup software
Drive mirroring backup software backs up an entire hard disk, including user settings and temporary files. It is also called drive imaging backup software. It can save data in a bootable disc format to be used for system recovery.
Partial backup: If you do not need to completely backup your whole hard disk, look for a partial backup or archiving software for performing selected file backups.
