CD-Recordable discs (CDRs) are compact discs that can be recorded with data. They have a high compatibility level with most CD writers. They have one recordable side that can be stored with up to 1.2GB or more depending on the brand and model. They have a thickness of 1.2 millimeters and a diameter of 80 to 120 millimeters.
Write-once discs are designed for one-time writing only. The written data becomes permanent and cannot be erased. They are ideal for storing and making permanent copies of important files.
Re-writable discs (CD-RW)
Re-writable discs can be erased and rewritten on several times. They are ideal for temporary storage of files. They are available in different storage capacities ranging from 600MB to as much as 1.2GB.
Quality: To ensure quality and performance, choose branded CDR media over generic ones. Although cheaper, these discs are more fragile and are not very reliable.
