A flash memory card reader reads data from a flash memory card for transfer, playback, or editing on a computer. It consists of one or more card slots arranged on a panel, usually labeled according to the card format meant for each slot. Some models only read and transfer files from the card, while others can also record data on the card.
Kinds of Flash Memory Card Readers include the following:
Internal flash memory card reader
An internal flash memory card reader is box-shaped and built into the computer case. It is commonly found in new computer models. It can also be bought separately and installed manually in older computers.
External flash memory card reader
An external flash memory card reader is housed in a separate box. It connects to the computer through the USB port or other peripheral port. It functions like an adapter, allowing several cards to be read while occupying only one port on the computer.
