Modular uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems are housed in cabinets with parallel slots, to which additional battery power modules can be added or removed. They allow users to control the power output of the UPS system, and adjust its capacity for expanding networks. Modules can also be added without interrupting the system. The cabinet, which follows the US9001 size standard, provides communication links between the modules and monitors the power and voltage levels.
US9003 modular UPS can accept module sizes of up to 4800VA.
They are single-master controlled and have a built in AC to DC converter.
They are recommended for smaller networks with up to 10 servers.
Choosing Modular UPSs (Buying Tips)
Communication port: Choose a modular UPS that connects to the RS-232 serial port. This allows more detailed communication between the computer and the UPS, including data on percent load, input and output voltages, and operational status. Configuration: Choose a modular UPS that lets you choose between single-phase and multi-phase configuration. Larger networks may require three-phase operation to properly reach all modules.
