Disappointed - L. Masters, Nov 03, 2009

Size is good. Shape is good. Sound is good*. But, for wireless speakers, there is no remote; you have to physically turn them on and off; they lose the signal way too often. Just not as good as I had hoped they would be.

Returned - Jericho Jeff, Oct 31, 2009

This system was easy to set up. BUT, the speakers picked up music from some unknown outside source and played both sets of music at the same time. Even when the transmitter was disconnected from any input source, it picked up and played undesired music. Changing the channels did not help. This was unacceptable and we returned the speakers. Amazon accepted the return with great ease.

beware of cheap speakers with a once respected name - S. Hansen, Sep 24, 2009

I purchased the preceding model of these speakers AW871 - They performed as expected for nearly two years, then the transmitter unit just quit. The unit is out of warranty now. I contacted AR customer service, they are now owned by Audiovox (that should be a clue). The advise was sorry, no repair available, no parts available. "Buy a new unit" and offered me a link to their online sales page. Why would I replace crap with crap?

Does not deliver, technical issues - H. S. Buckwalter, Sep 22, 2009

Technical issues are the cause of the poor rating. The transmitter module cuts off during low points in the broadcast. So the only way to keep the transmitter on is to give it a constant stream of music/talking/etc.

When it does pickup and start transmitting, it takes a long time to do so. Like 8 or 9 seconds from when the iPod/Stereo/TV starts playing. And the transmitter lacks a switch to turn it on permanently, it turns on and off on it's own.

Also, the sound tended to phased in and out over time. I had placed the transmitter about 15 feet from the speakers and if anyone walked between them the speakers would phase out with static. At one point they started phasing in and out without anybody being in the room.

I ended up buying the Rockfish wireless speaker kit and a set of normal speakers. This setup worked much better without a single issue.

Not worth it - jalmquist, Sep 06, 2009

I bought these for my grandparents, because they have problems hearing the television. So I thought these would solve the problem, setting one speaker next to grandma and one next to grandpa. A couple weeks later, they stopped by with speakers in box and asked me to take them back. I haven't played around with them much, and haven't verified any of their complaints. But the said they popped every now and then, and it was just too annoying. Another complaint is the volume control is totally independent from the source. So, they couldn't control the volume of the speakers by adjusting the volume of the television. They had to reach over individually and adjust each speaker. They didn't like the fact that the speakers had to be turned on and off either. Just not a very practical speaker set, and the technology certainly is not there yet. It's amazing...we can shoot missiles out of the sky with a laser, but we can't yet figure out to manufacture a good wireless speaker? jeez.....
