The Creative Xmod USB sound device makes music and movies sound better than studio quality with X-Fi technology. It restores details and vibrance your music and movies lost during compression, making them richer and fuller, and expands stereo sound into virtual surround sound with headphones or stereo speakers. Plus, it works with both PCs and Macs and is truly plug-and-playo software installation neededo you can plug it in and start using it right out of the box. Average Rating of 4.00 out of 59 reviews

Rating : Great Item to Replace Broken Laptop Sound Card - Mark Fang, Nov 16, 2009
I purchased my XMOD about a week and a half ago and I have been pleased thus far. I purchased the XMOD because the 3.5mm jack for my laptop broke off and the onboard speakers wouldn't even function anymore. So as of now, my sound card is the XMOD and I can't be happier.
The design of the XMOD is sleek and modern. The blue LEDs along with the glossy white surface give off an almost futuristic look to it. The volume control knob is also a mute button when pushed down; which is very convenient compared to quickly turning the volume down. The two output lines [one for headphones and one for speakers] is terrific, however I was hoping that it would have been able to switch from one output to the other via a button rather than have the headphone output override the speaker output. Also, it would have been convenient if the manufacturers added a gauge of some sort to display what level the volume is at. Overall, however, I am very satisfied with the product considering the amazing price Amazon sold it for [$30!!].
Rating : Wow!!! Instant Quality Sound Where There Wuz None! - A. Bouck, Nov 14, 2009
Bought A Dell laptop to use to store graphics on the run. Never tested the sound. Then one day I put in a DVD. Oye! Could hardly hear it. Went in the control panel to fix it and really messed it up. Went in the registry and sorta fixed it. It had itty bitty crappy sound. Warranty long gone.
Saw this USB (external) sound card on Amazon and read the reviews. With trepidation, I ordered it from Amazon. It was on my doorstep in the wink of an eye. Plugged it in.
WOW. Heaven! Not like surround sound but really good. I can watch Eckhart Tolle or listen to Dr. John and enjoy it.
Turned a piece of junk laptop into happiness.
Rating : perfect in windows, bad in linux - J. Liu, Nov 14, 2009
it works perfectly in windows vista, the effect is as good as it is advertised. but it produces buzzzzzzzzzzz noise when it is working in Ubuntu Linux. Since Ubuntu is my major working OS, I have to return it for refund, what's a pity ...
Rating : Excellent - Stanislav Kupriyanov, Nov 13, 2009
I like it. You realy can feel the difference. It has 2 additional functions. First gives you 5.1 channel system feeling even when you listen to headphones. And the second recreates the mp3 songs, so they sound more live.
