A litlle lag in transmission - Mr Personne, Nov 17, 2009

This is a fantastic product. It works well and is very easy to use. It has very rich functionalities for its price point. I am not really using it as it was design for but rather just to transmit the television sound to an ear phone so that I don't have to raise the volume of the TV - there is not computer involved. The product is overkill in that context but it comes actually cheaper than less sophisticated solutions! Anyway, in that context I noticed a little lag between the receiver and the source. This is noticeable but really not annoying. I would buy it again for the same application.

Poor sound - Aleksander Zajkowski, Nov 14, 2009

I bought this device ignoring all those negative reviews I've red before. I thought that this is what I've been looking for. And the price was right as well. I was looking some device which would allowed me to stream/play music from my laptop through my stereo system without connecting any cables. Unfortunately the Xmode disapointed me.
It was very easy to connect. I didn't have to install anything on my system. This is the real plug-and-play device. I turn on some music and what I heard? Noises and scratches like I would lesten to a radio with poor signal. The quality of the sound was terrible. And the transmitter and the receiver were laying not so far from each other. I don't know if the device was broken or not but it didn't work for me at all. I mean the wireless feature worked afterall but it could't get the right sound. I don't know how it works at other peoples houses. I had no chance to compare but I have one of those Creative X-Fi sound blaster cards hoocked up to my stereo system and I know what quality of sound I can get: clear sound, nice regulated bass and trebles, very useful enhancement features. Well..performane of Creative Xmode Wireless System didn't remind anything of that. I returned the item back and waiting for refund.

Fast, easy, good sound, works with Windows 7 - S. Howe, Nov 13, 2009

I'll try not to rehash what's already been said in the previous positive reviews but it's hard because this gadget is really great.

I was able to get this set up in less than a minute. Windows 7 Ultimate saw the transmitter right away. Hooked up the receiver to my home stereo and opened Youtube to test the sound and it played immediately. It does not interfere with my N network at all.

If you need to stream music from any computer to a home stereo, get this thing. It sounds great, and is extremely easy to get running. It has enabled me to carry around my laptop all over the house without interrupting Pandora or Foobar. Best of all, it's without having to listen to the horribly tinny built in speakers. I plan on getting a few more receivers for the garage, upstairs, etc. Maybe some full setups for the music lovers in my family for Christmas gifts as well!

Creative really nailed it with this, five stars all the way!

Simple, no fuss, no setup. Just works. - Bob, Nov 04, 2009

I spent a few weeks looking for just the right product for my situation.

I wanted to start my music player software (Zune) on my PC and hear the sound outside in my backyard.
I have a stereo receiver for my outside speakers so I connected the Creative receiver to the CD IN RCA jacks.

Then I connected the Creative reciver to the 120v power outlet and the unit powered up and the green link light began flashing.
I next went to my PC and plugged in the transmitter to my usb port. Windows 7 64 bit recognized the device and loaded a default driver.

The Creative system doesn't come with any software but none is needed.

The transmitter gets its power from the usb port so no power supply is needed on the PC end.
The transmitter powered up and the green link light flashed twice and went to solid green. (indicates sucessful link)

I opened my Zune software on the PC and started playing a song.
I could not hear it on my PC speakers but it was playing outside.

Amazing !!

I fired up my seperate tablet PC with wireless adapter and I made a remote desktop connection to my PC.
Now I can sit outside with my tablet PC and control my Zune software from outside.

The transmitter and receiver are about 60 feet apart with 3 walls between them.

When you are finished listening you can go to the transmitter and push the power button to put the unit in standby mode and your PC speakers are back to normal.

A no-brainer purchase - JoeUtica, Nov 02, 2009

If you want to play the music on your computer in another room on better speakers, this is the way to go. A USB cord plugs the transmitter into the computer -- there is no set-up needed -- and the receiver plugs into the "phono" jack on my stereo system's receiver (it's old). It took all of two minutes, one of which was spent remembering to set my system receiver on "phono." Fiddle with the volume settings until it's right and you're done. No techie required.
