Fellowes 99928 USB Micro Track Ball (Silver)

I was very pleased and surprised at the promptness of delivery. The Track Ball is working beautifully.

Works quite well. - Richard Touchette, Mar 15, 2008

The mouse works quite well as far as ergonomics go. 2 things I would like to see improved: the track ball stops moving the cursor at times(have to really spin it around to get it working again) and it's a bit small for my large hands(keeping clicking when moving my hand) Other than that it really helps with the wrist position when surfing the net.

Fellowes Micro Track handheld trackball - Mason V. Gertz, Mar 15, 2008

This is a very handy mouse to use with a laptop or notebook computer. The oval hole is actually a trigger guard with trigger that activates the Left Mouse Button (also on top left).

When I rec'd my 1st one, as a gift about 10 years ago, I thought it was the greatest thing since ice cream! I enjoy "shooter" action games on my laptop, and this allows you to maneuver using your thumb on the trackball, and just pulling the trigger!

A new one has about 1/4 in. firm trigger pull, with an audible click about 1/2 way, and clicks when you release pressure, as the springs push the trigger back out. I have gone through at least 15 of these, as eventually, the trigger springs wear out.

I was so happy to receive my shipment of 5 new ones from RitzCamera, as my current one was about worn out. I was in the middle of a WWII game, manning a machine-gun in a Flying Fortress. I opened the new one and plugged it in, and commenced play. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! The springs on the trigger were so weak, it gave it a 1/8 in. hair-trigger (with no click) that was next to impossible to release, with your finger still in the trigger guard. I was shooting as many "friendlies" as enemy, BECAUSE I COULDN'T RELEASE THE TRIGGER!!!

This HAD to be a fluke, so I opened the next of the 5. SAME THING!! I opened the other 3, AND THEY ALL HAD DEFECTIVE TRIGGERS !! As far as I was concerned, this entire shipment from RitzCamera was DOA, compared to EVERY ONE of these same items I had previously owned.

I contacted the seller, RitzCamera, to explain the problem, and that I wished to return them. I also let them know I DID NOT want to exchange them for identical defective merchandise (since 5 of 5 I rec'd were defective, I could only assume their whole batch was). He said there would be a $15 re-stocking fee. I asked if he was actually going to re-sell this defective product to another customer? He said "Of course not." So I told him there should be NO restocking fee.

He said he would look into it, and Email me the "return number", so I could send it back in. BUT! None of the defective merchandise can have been opened (so HOW do you tell if it's defective?) and the order must be returned in a different box than it was received in?

That's been a few weeks ago.....no doubt beyond the return date, and I haven't heard from them since, either by Email or phone!

THE POOR RATING IS FOR RITZCAMERA, NOT THE USUAL PRODUCT.
I have purchased

trackball doesn't work well at all - Cheybear, Mar 10, 2008

This will be my 3rd trackball in three years. The design idea is nice, but not as functional as a desktop mouse. The rollerball jumps around, and is hard to select items. 3 years ago, I paid half the price as I paid recently, and I am very dissappointed. I will not buy this product again. They do not last, and they do not work well

Great potential, less than great execution - Some Random Guy, Mar 08, 2008

Like other reviews, this would be a really great product if it wasn't so cheaply constructed. If they made the body out of aluminum and used better bearings to keep the ball in place, this would be a great product.

Who knows what the marketing geniuses are thinking? Maybe they feel they could make more money if they force us to buy 3 or 4 at 20$ than one well made one at $100? I would pay $100 or maybe more to buy a well made one of these.

After a few hours of use, I find that I have to hold it so the ball is almost level or else press on it harder to make it work. I have a compressed ulnar nerve and I need to move my arm around from time to time to keep it from being aggravated. If the geniuses would have spent a few dollars on keeping the ball in place no matter what angle you hold the device, it would be a great device that helps provide a solution to RSI sufferers.

It is skippy and works, but it has the unrealized potential to be great for people with compressed ulnar nerves.
