Rating : worst printers ever - 50% fail rate - Luke, Nov 03, 2009
My company bought approximately 30 of these printers. Of those, 14 went bad within two months of being "out of warranty" due to formatter board issues. After we bought new boards to repair those, we have had another 3 go out on us. HP wants us to ship every printer to them to get the part replaced at around $200 each. We will not be using HP printers in the future.
Rating : Bad formatter board and no help from HP - Josh Pitzer, Oct 08, 2009
Had the printer for 14 months. Worked fine up until then for simple black and white printing...nothing fancy. But last week out of the blue the computer no longer recognized printer. Had our IT department look at the printer and they determined the printer's formatter board was dead. IT rep said "A new formatter board will cost around $200 which makes it not worth repairing. I would suggest purchasing a new printer, but not this model. Every P2015 the university has purchased in the last year has died due to the formatter board." Some people get lucky and it dies within the warranty period. I was not. I am only 2 months out of warranty and HP would do nothing to help me. They acted like I was the only one to ever call in response to a bad formatter board. Google "HP laserjet p2015 formatter board problem" and you will see that I am not alone. I had not even used up the original print cartridge yet. HP's Tech support response, "That's unfortunate, I can set you up to purchase a new one today." My response was not family friendly. I will NOT be purchasing an HP printer again. Don't waste your money either.
Rating : Disappointing - MCW, Sep 24, 2009
I've always owned HP printers, and this was purchased less than two years ago to replace a 1987 vintage LaserJet III that was still working! Much to my disappointment, this model has been a struggle since the very difficult installation. As has been noted in other reviews, one day it just stopped working, and will occasionally print if I flip the on/off switch just prior to the print. After spending more than [...] for this model, including a second paper drawer, I am soured on HP and will be looking to replace this with another brand.
Rating : Great Printer!! - Mr.B., Sep 08, 2009
Great business-class laser printer from HP.. Toner's are a bit pricey but aren't they all?
Rating : Many Print Problems with this one. - Ak native in, Aug 09, 2009
I was very happy with this printer the first year and I was using XP Home. The one exception is the toner flakes off of labels and index cards easily. Then I purchased a new computer with Vista. When I purchased this printer is claimed to be Vista compatible. Well it really is not and it is not on the install disk. Then another problem cropped up. It looses its IP address and won't print. Before buying the 2015dn please read just a few of the posts on HP's own printer support forum: [...] I would keep looking for a different model.
