This chip is now over 3 years old, but still performs excellent. I received one of these for free from a friend of mine over a year ago to replace an aging AMD 64 3700+ Single core cpu I used for everything from gaming to video editing. I was flat out amazed at how much faster this cpu was. I gained about 150% more performance easily. Granted my AMD was a single core, but was OC'd to FX57 levels (from 2.2 to 2.88ghz).
This cpu also Overclocks very well, I took it from stock 2.4 to 3.2ghz on air.

I now use a Q6600 quad core cpu for my gaming, and have resigned this little pocket rocket (e6600) to just video/i-net and office duties with the cpu set back to stock speeds. If it wasn't for the outrageous price they want here, I would recommend this cpu for a budget system today. But for socket 775 you might want to check out the E8xxx series or better yet quad cores.

The product arrived in a damaged box. I tried the processor in two computers and the same problem occurred in both. Wasted most of a week giving the seller the benefit of doubt, wrong decision. Apparently someone else returned the product and it was resold based on the looks of the packaging. Overall a bad decision to purchase from the seller and Amazon. Bought local at better price for a faster processor. Buying local in the future and not on line. In 20 years of PC experience this was one of the worst. Don't buy here.

Este producto es lo que esperaba. Ha mejorado grandemente el funcionanmiento de mi pc. Antes con algunas aplicaciones y mi antiguo procesador mi pc se ponia lenta o se pegaba, ahora va volando!!

This is my first Intel processor. I've always went with AMD in the past. This Core 2 Duo E6600 processor was a little pricier than the AMD offerings but it's plenty fast and powerful for my needs (light gamer, audio recording/editing). I paid $230 and I think I got a good deal on a great processor. Purchasing through Amazon went without a hitch also.
