Not much left to say! Bought this processor from amazon here for $212, and I have had no trouble getting it to exceed my expectations. I'm a CAD designer and avid gamer, and I have to say that maxing out this processor is actually kind of hard. This beast has no trouble running Autodesk AutoCad, 3dsMax, and Inventor, even with complex 3D models (BTW Autodesk is awesome!). The q9550 also bumped my FPS up in all of my games - from 60 FPS to 80 FPS in Mass Effect, and from 20 FPS to 75 FPS in Grand Theft Auto 4 (processor hog game!). FYI: My previous processor was an older high-end AMD Dual core, and I've used the same GTX 260 in both my new and old machines.

If you're looking for a moderately priced processor with high-end performance, I recommend this one!

achieved stable 3.8ghz 1.28v overclock within 48hrs of testing and tweaking (with Gigabyte EP45-UD3P) on Windows 7 64bit and 4gb ddr2 1066.

running like a dream, still crunching Prime95 torture test on all four cores, multitasking like crazy, stays below 60C.

buy an aftermarket cooler if you overclock beyond 3.4ghz (at stock voltages).

Most people won't need to overclock though.

Make sure your motherboard is electrically compatible with the 45nm CPU's and that your motherboard BIOS is compatible as well.

Just because it's socket 775 doesn't mean it will work in your socket 775 motherboard.

Other than the included heatsink and fan this processor rocks. Using a Freezer 7 Pro and the temp still is around 56c not being taxed and around 70c taxed.

This is still by far the best bang for buck processor you can get.
Out the box its at 2.8 so which is more than enough to run pretty much anything faster than any Dual core, yes even the E8400 4Ghz.

The Core is easily overclockable to 3.5Ghz at which point it becomes a whole new level of awesomeness, it'll handle any game like Crysis and run them with no problems or hiccups.

I use my processor mainly for console emulation, to put things into perspective i was running a 4Ghz E8400 and the Q9 clocks out 60fps solid where the E8400 would clock 40-55 unstable.

Testing this versus the i7, the gains from the i7 are negligable as they clock the same times with any programs on the market right now, so dont bother going i7 when till much much later.

Q9 is the processor for you.

well worth the money works good with my gigabyte motherboard ep45t-ud3lr you just cant slow this thang down i can run all my anti-malware,anti-virus & reg-defrag all while i surf the web and its still hungy for more
