I was sceptical when I read only one other review that complained about the insertion/ejection mechanism
when it was accompanied by some many happy reviews. So I went with the majority opinion and ordered one.
Well I don't know if there are 2 completely different models being sent out but this thing is a complete piece of junk.
The insertion mechanism was very vague and the eject equally clunky. I have ordinary USB card readers that only cost
$15 vs $60 for this one, their build quality is superior by a large margin.

I don't mind paying a premium for a professional grade/speed product but I found this to be neither.

Asides from a useless insertion mechanism, it turns out this one is faulty, only deciding to read a card about 1 in ten times.

It's frustrating that there aren't other high speed card reader solutions out there. An ESATA solution would be great. Firewire 800 would
be next.

I bought this reader a few months ago to use with my MacBook Pro, particularly for weddings where I was spending hours downloading pictures from the cards unto the computer for editing. I can honestly say that this device has been a godsend ever since I received it, cutting my downloading time 75-80% of what it used to be. For example, I photographed a wedding a few weeks back and had about 2,000 RAW images to be downloaded. Using this device, it only took approximately 30 minutes to download all the images into Apple's Aperture. If you're a professional photographer, particularly if you take RAW photographs, this is a must-have accessory to speed up your workflow.

Title says it all. If you're daisy chaining multiple card readers, you MUST follow the directions concerning the order of attachment to your computer...otherwise you'll have a cluster**** of cards not mounting or dismounting properly.

This is a decent product for the money. I use it mainly to transfer digital photos to my iMac. At times there are about 8 GB to transfer, so having a Firewire 800 in this cases is a must! It would be better if it had slots for other sizes and kinds of cards though. The FireWire 800 cable can also be used separately for other reasons/uses. Lexar is a good brand when it comes to memory cards and card readers. I would buy this product again.
