Buy Trendnet Instead..... - Baba's child, Nov 17, 2009

I suffered with these cameras for a year, before I could take it no longer! They were difficult to set up to work wirelessly, and twice I had to pay Linksys $9.99 for suppport to do it for me. Trying to synchronize a modem, router, computer and cameras to work together is not easy for a junior techie like me; but unfortunately, the Linksys support staff didn't seem to know what to do either. After many chats, phone calls, and remote management from Linksys support, I finally gave up. I decided to purchase Trendnet cameras instead. For a little more money, it seems like I've gotten a much better product. They were easy to set up, and when I did need tech support because of an incorrect router setting, the tech person actually seemed to know what to do about it and I was off the phone within a half hour - the first technician tried unsuccessfully to fix it but then referred me to her supervisor. The Trendnets can also be managed remotely, so if there is any problem with the camera, you don't have to be onsite to fix it. What a relief.

Poor software, poor picture, poor tech support - Mark, Nov 11, 2009

Camera failed to find wireless network, despite being in same room as router and other wireless devices connected ok. Connected camera using wired connection to test software features and video quality. Image quality is poor, very pixelated and has motion like artifacts even on areas where there is no motion. Tried contacting the technical support hotline which on box is touted as award winning 24x7. After going through approx 4 menu options was told that system is experiencing technical difficulties and line was disconnected. No option to request a call back or estimated time to call again. Very poor product and service from linksys/cisco in my opinion.

never could connect - L. Honda, Nov 08, 2009

I set this up and could see perfectly with the internal network.
However, the external service was not good.
I never could get it to work.
I called everyone but they all pointed at each other.
They mostly blamed my IP service for not allowing me to get a free channel out.
Then they blamed my hardware.
I got a new router, wireless modem, operating system, computer and still could not see it on the web.
Useless.
In the end I bought a mobi-cam and setup with external web viewing in 5 minutes.
I threw this piece of junk away.

Downgrade to v1.00R22 firmware for WPA security - Minnie Mouse, Nov 04, 2009

Honestly the camera does work really well. Rather impressed actually. I have owned this for at least 6 months and haven't had a problem yet. The only issue was initial setup since you can't use a secure wireless network unless you downgrade the software. I tried and tried and tried with the most updated software until looking at the Linksys website and finding multiple postings regarding this issue. It seems as if Linksys has given up on the product and is no longer fixing the issues. The last update was over a year ago, and it messed up the networking. After downgrading to V1.00R22, I was able to use WPA wireless security.

The only other issue is that at night, I used to get multiple false motion alerts until I turned the sensitivity down. It works great during the day and I've set it up to email me when there is motion, and then I forward it to my phone via SMS. Works great.

Very easy to set up and use - Charles F. Zumbrun, Oct 23, 2009

Very easy to set up, only hitch was it didn't automatically detect my wireless network, but when I manually entered the SSID it worked fine. I'm using it for real-time remote monitoring and you just point your browser at it and go. Couldn't be easier to set up and use.
