Product Description

The X-540 speakers use FDD2 (Frequency Directed Dual Driver) technology to produce a uniform soundfield anywhere in the room. Immerse yourself in the game using the selectable matrix mode, which automatically creates 5.1 surround sound from common 2-channel stereo sources. The compact satellites are wall-mountable, and a special clip lets you place the center channel speaker on top of most flat-panel monitors to reduce desktop clutter. This system is not as powerful as I had expected (hence the 4 star rating), but it sounds good and clean. It is great for a small to medium sized room like an office or bedroom. Good overall buy for the money.

speakers worth the price but the speaker wires were too short to give the full surround sound effect. wires should be longer or Logitech should include extensions.

I agree with the majority about the X-540 comments. Overall it's a good system for its price. The sound is surprisingly good, and the power is good. I bought this model before I saw the G51 or the 5500. I would prefer the G51 instead, but that's only because I am a guy and like more power then I actually need. Overall I am satisfied with the X-540.
Pros: sound, controls, price
Cons: really short hard-wired speaker wires, rear speakers could use a little more power.
Additional, the bass is a bit overpowering, but it's adjustable. I wish there were individual speaker controls as with the G51. I choose the X-540 over the Bose Companion 3 because I felt the X-540 could deliver a more full sound then the Bose. The Bose hands down delivers a better quality sound, but I didn't think it would deliver as much of a powerful sound then the X-540.

Others had given this speaker set a good review so I expected a great experience. I'm not sure if the problem is the speakers or my settings, but I can't get them to have a surround sound. The side/back speakers are too soft and I can't hear them, but when I turn them up I lose the center speakers sound. And I can either have the center or the front speakers dominate but not share the sound equally. The bass sounds good during music and tv, but is way too loud for windows computer sounds and I can't find a compromise between the two. I do like the control pad next to my keyboard so I can control the volume easily.

This is the best system for anyone who wants more than just regular speakers. this system has so many different ways to listen to great sound. and the remote that comes with it is such a pleasure to have, so you dont have reach for the sub wofer to turn it on. when you purchase5.1 Game Console Adapter Convert Rca Plugs To A Single 1/8 as i have, triples the output of sound. Overall you can plug and play this thing with ANYTHING! So far i have played it with DVDs Animes iPOD PS2 even my Gameboy. The speakers are mountable anywhere, even upside down which is what i have done underneath my loft bed.
this is a lifetime purchase pending i take care of it like everything else i do.
