Nice sub, great price - Michael Finnerty, May 02, 2008

I purchased this subwoofer due to its brand reputation, low price point, and to match the rest of my system: 4 x R30's front and rear, and 1 x CSR center.

The sound is what you would expect from a nice, but budget priced, Polk subwoofer. It really does open up the sound range from your home audio system.

Cons: First, the subwoofer box does not contain a subwoofer cable or a Y-splitter for a subwoofer to dual RCA jacks. Since this model has dual inputs for a single subwoofer channel, you can run a single subwoofer cable from your receiver, but the adjustments IMO, are easier and sound better when used with a splitter.

Overall: Great price at under $150 shipped. Great sound. Matches well in sound and color with other Polk speakers. All in all, a great buy for the price.

Decent lower priced subwoofer - Raymond Wilmott, Apr 25, 2008

Picked this up to go with a pair of matching Polk Monitor 50's. It puts out an acceptable amount of bass, assuming you're not looking to shake things off the walls. If you're looking for wall-shaking bass for rap and hip-hop, look elsewhere. If you're looking to add some bass to other types of music, or to add some rumble to movies in a home theater set-up, this is a decent subwoofer at a reasonable price.

Nice sub for the $$$ - David, Feb 18, 2008

For my use, this is a very good product. $150 or so shipped, and it gives nice, tight bass response using both the speaker level inputs and, after I received a sub "y cable," the line-in inputs (not at the same time, mind you -- just pointing out I've tried it both ways).

This is probably nowhere near audiophile quality, but to round out the bass response in my Monitor 50s, it was a nice purchase. Bass response is even and the only anomaly is if your particular track happens to have bass frequencies hovering around the port frequency, it can sound a bit unbalanced. Doesn't get overtly deep, but so far it is deep enough for my purposes. Most of my listening is music instead of movies, though with my limited video-watching, it has performed adequately there as well.

Rating is "for the money." I really cannot compare it to the higher end subs. I'm pleased.

use surge protection - Dave M, Dec 14, 2007

Great sound but we took a lightening strike and it fried the amp, so
there's not great surge protection designed in. The fuse on the amp
blew, replacement fuses blow immediately, so the fuse wasn't good enough
protection.

I highly suggest using surge protection on this product.

Compact Performance - r2lti, Aug 27, 2007

I have been a long-time Polk fan - purchased (and still am using) Monitor series back in the early 80's. Recently set up a surround TV system including Polk R50's - this subwoofer compliments the setup, adding more base although the R50's alone achieve good range into some of the base. The PSW10 looks match the R50's - one of my criteria, and fits nicely in the space available - a second criteria. I am using the sub-out jack from a 70W Onkyo 7.1 receiver with a Y-splitter; depending on the TV programming & audio source, reasonably loud but very clean base response from the PSW10. Present crossover (Onkyo) is set at 100db & blends well with the R50's set at "Large" & with other smaller (Klipsch & Polk) surrounds (frequency adjustment / crossover on the PSW10 is turned all the way up). Recommend this good-looking subwoofer to fill in the added base dimension for compact installations.
