Tripp Lite's IEEE-1394b, or FireWire 800 cables, are the latest in FireWire technology, with data transfer speeds up to 800Mbps, twice the speed of original FireWire. The 9-pin to 6-pin FireWire 800 - FireWire cable (also known as a "bilingual" cable) will connect a 6-pin FireWire (1394a) device to a 9-pin FireWire 800 (1394b) port on a computer, or it will connect the 6-pin FireWire port on a computer to a 9-pin FireWire 800 device (FireWire 800 devices can achieve FireWire 800 speeds only when connected to a FireWire 800 port). These cables are 100% compatible with Apple FireWire, Sony iLink, and all other IEEE-1394b peripherals. Average Rating of 4.00 out of 20 reviews

Simple cable, works great with my iMac and external HDD; it's more reliable than adapter.
Rating : Just what I needed - C. Browne, Sep 11, 2009
So I bought a new Macbook Pro and discovered that the Firewire 800 interface was different and I couldn't attach my firewire portable drive to the laptop I just purchased. I logged on to Amazon to find a conversion cable and found this one. The price was great so I ordered it. In just a couple days it showed up and now I'm back in business. The product is reliable. The company is reliable. Just plain great.
Rating : Works great - Arlen Robinson Cornell, Aug 28, 2009
I recently purchased this so I could run my Alesis Firewire mixer to my new Macbook. I was a little worried that it wouldn't run right, but much to my delight, it works wonderfully. Sturdy cable, stays in place, what more do I say? I don't have any complaints.
Rating : Must have for MacBook Pro users - A. Anderson, Aug 10, 2009
I purchased my MacBook Pro and installed Logic Express on it, but i needed a cable or adapter to plug in my Presonus Firebox interface. The firebox has a firewire 400 port, and the MacBook Pro has the 800 port, so this cable is just what I needed. It works well and is pretty fast. The only complaint I have is the cable is a little stiff and fits somewhat loosely into the 800 port. You can wiggle it around in the 800 port, but it's snug enough to not come out if you don't mess with it. Overall, great product for the price.
Rating : Oh well - Michael Powers, Aug 02, 2009
This seems like a really fine product - especially if you are going to be using it alot. Great price, and the build of it seems to be above average. I needed it in a pinch to try and salvage some files off an old hard drive, but alas, I think the HD has bit the dust and I have not been able to use it. At least it wasn't too expensive!
