Tripp Lite's IEEE-1394b, or FireWire 800 cables, are the latest in FireWire technology, with data transfer speeds up to 800Mbps, twice the speed of original FireWire. The 9-pin to 4-pin FireWire 800 - FireWire cable (also known as a "bilingual" cable) will connect a 4-pin FireWire (1394a) device to a 9-pin FireWire 800 (1394b) port on a computer (FireWire 800 devices can achieve FireWire 800 speeds only when connected to a FireWire 800 port). These cables are 100% compatible with Apple FireWire, Sony iLink, and all other IEEE-1394b peripherals. Average Rating of 4.50 out of 26 reviews

The product arrived defective. the smaller end was poorly constructed and bent externally. Made of really malleable metal. Needs to be returned.
Rating : Works as expected - Cristian-Paul Badiu, Oct 24, 2009
I bought this cable because I purchased a new MacBookPro and my camcorder JVC GRD72 has a fire wire out. With the USB cable the Mac didn't "see" the camcorder but with this cable I was able to import my movies into iMovie fast! No need to instal any program. It works great and I'm happy that I made the purchase.
Rating : Review of Firewire cable. - S. Peterson, Oct 22, 2009
Cable was shipped reasonably quickly, works like it's supposed to. No problems. If you have an older camcorder with a firewire connection and a newer Mac computer this cable will connect the two.
Rating : For video transfer from Mini-DV to Mac Pro - Felix Trinidad, Sep 24, 2009
It is exactly what you need for video transfer. If you get this cable and it doesn't work it is because you are a moron who is trying to use it for some other purpose like some of the morons who have reviewed it. Remember some people are not as smart as a cable.
Rating : Works well most of the time - Ravi Melaram, Sep 13, 2009
I bought this cable to connect my Canon HV20 to my MacBook Pro 13. It works well, every once in a while I have to restart my capture in iMovie because the video isn't transferring. Not sure if this is an issue with the cable or iMovie 09. Overall it's still a good product that does what I need.
