Product Description

The Cintiq 21UX interactive pen display provides the best-of-class pen experience for working directly on the screen. It combines the advantages of a large-format LCD monitor with the control, comfort, and productivity of Wacom's most sophisticated patented cordless, battery-free pen technology. With a 21.3-inch TFT diagonal display, the Cintiq 21UX delivers a highly sensitive pen-on-screen experience and a generous active area for working directly on large images, concepts, and designs in the most natural way possible. Working directly with the pen on screen is a natural motion that gives you an unprecedented degree of control and allows you to take advantage of natural hand-eye coordination, helping you work more intuitively and noticeably faster. The display's completely flat surface allows the hand and pen to glide over the surface of the Cintiq without bumping into any bezels or borders. A dynamically-adjustable stand allows you to rotate the display up to 180 degrees in each direction, incline the display from 10 to 65 degrees, and even remove it for comfortable lap use. Rear roller feet make the incline adjustments easy; the result is freedom to adjust the interactive display to positions that work for you. Strategically-placed ExpressKeys and Touch Strips are programmable, allowing you to customize your Cintiq to your needs. The ExpressKeys are easily accessible on either side of the display and provide quick access to keyboard shortcuts, modifier keys, and functions that minimize dependence on the keyboard for uninterrupted work sessions. Finger-sensitive Touch Strips are located on either side of the display for easy zooming, scrolling, or making tool adjustments without taking focus away from the pen tip.

terrible customer service and policies - JOHN H. PARK, Oct 10, 2009

I just got my Cintiq 21UX. It's an awesome piece of equipment, not backed by a good company. I have more than one dead subpixel, and their policy is up to 14 DEAD SUBPIXELS!

C'mon?! I'm a graphic designer, and this is what over $2000.00 gets me?

I'm past disappointed w/ their policies and service.

The cintiq is amazing! I also have a Wacom Intuos4 medium for traveling but the cintiq is the greatest asset to a digital artist.

This item is perfect for anyone who has the drive for art and the spare bucks! The cintiq 21 ux is a BEAST of a tablet, I did not expect it to be this heavy either.
The features on the cintiq are roughly the same as on most wacom tablets, a zoom scroller and a few macro buttons and I found it real nice that wacom thought about all you left handers out there by putting the macros on both sides of the cintiq, either side can also be disabled just incase you like to spread your arms while you work. The pen works just like the rest to except for the high levels of pressure sensitivity. If your working with the cintiq stand included in the box you have the ability to rotate the screen to an extent and it is not at all hard to push. Aside from rotating you can tilt the screen to a few different levels from flat to straight up, which is good to swap when your working or for displaying work to others. Theres 2 pen holders in this package, one which is the standard ink well type holder and one which is cleverly put in the back of the cintiq, it's not a huge deal but it helps if your desk to have less stuff on it or something.
This cintiq will also double in as a VERY good screen. It handles 1920x1080 resolutions which is terrific for space. All that and the pen is very responsive, however I had one issue but I'm not sure if its software based or if its the cintiqs fault, sometimes when I brush up the function of the pen gets locked and the mouse pointer drags to that direction, this has not happend to me alot but I have seen it.
The screen itself feels sooo smooth as if it was sanded down with something and does not in ANY way feel like that slippery hard plastic you get on wacom graphires(I never used intuos so your going to have to ask someone else for comparisons.
The only issue I have is that sometimes the screen forces 1600x1200 resolution, I don't know it could be an issue with my graphics card.

So overall this is an amazing top of the line product with the only downside of it being so expensive. So if you want that feel of doing drawings or paints just the way you do on paper or canvas for your digital work, I highly suggest you start saving cash for a cintiq! :D or buy it now If you can afford it :P Wacom Techno Cintiq 21UX 21-Inch Interactive Pen Display PC Tablet With Pen and Software

Fantastic Investment! - Drake Schaberg, Sep 04, 2009

I am a college student going into my Senior year and I am studying Graphic Design. My main focus is illustration and cartoons. To get down to it this is one of the greatest investments I have made thus far. I knew I wanted a tablet, and knew that I was eventually going to get a Cintiq. I decided to go straight for the big one. I was hesitant at first because of the price. It is a bit pricy but I figured that the ends justified the means and that I will pay it off someday with the work that I do.
You shouldn't expect a perfect representation of pen and paper. It is close but not perfect. And that is totally fine with me. It works amazingly! It makes drawing on the computer so much easier and faster. I can't tell you how much I like it. Wacom has put a lot of deep thought into all of the features and the structure of this thing that you shouldn't have to question it.
I see my self in the future using this for a very long time and am 110% satisfied with my purchase. If you are deciding whether this is right for you go and look at videos on the web. There are plenty of people to tell you that this is a good investment. And to clear up what a previous review said, it is compatible with an imac if you have the DVI adapter for it (which is like $15-$20 at Best Buy or an apple store).
So I encourage all of you who are into graphic design and illustration to save up the money and get the Cintiq. I would defiantly get the bigger of the two. As many of us college student like to put it, "Go Big or Go Home!"
