A wireless print server is a device that allows one or two printers to be shared across a wireless (Wi-Fi) network. It allows a printer to be used away from the computer, staying within the server’s range. It can also perform print jobs while the computer is turned off. Administrators can also change the computer settings without reconfiguring the network printing settings. It usually conencts to the printer by a network cable, and to a wireless router through Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable.
Kinds of Wireless Print Servers include the following:
802.11b wireless print server

802.11g wireless print server
The 802.11g wireless print server supports a bandwidth of 54 Mbps. It has a frequency range of 2.4 GHz, the same communication frequency range used by the 802.11b standard.
Range: Choose a wireless print server with a wide frequency range to better support a big office with many computers connected by a wireless network.
Security: Choose a wireless print server that encrypts your data before transmission to keep it from getting intercepted or accessed by unauthorized devices.
