Kinds of Cordless Phone Batteries include the following:

Nickel cadmium (NiCad) cordless phone batteries

  • Nickel cadmium cordless phone batteries are rechargeable.
  • They are prone to the battery memory syndrome, which occurs when the battery is not charged and recharged completely. This causes the battery to “remember” the small charge instead of adapting to its original capacity.
  • They are available in 300 to 700 mAh (amps per hour) ratings.
  • They are usually compatible with older cordless phones.

Nickel metal hydride (NiMH) cordless phone batteries

  • Nickel metal hydride (NiMH) cordless phone batteries are rechargeable.
  • They are not prone to the battery memory syndrome.
  • They do not need to be drained and charged completely, retaining their original capacity even after incomplete charging and draining cycles.
  • They have a longer battery life than NiCad batteries.
  • They are compatible with newer cordless phones.

Lithium ion (Li-Ion) cordless phone batteries

  • Lithium ion (Li-Ion) cordless phone batteries are rechargeable.
  • They are not affected by the battery memory syndrome.
  • They are available in 300 to 600 mAh (amps per hour) ratings.
  • They are used in most of the newest cordless phone models.

Choosing Cordless Phone Batteries (Buying Tips)

Materials: Choose a cordless phone battery with intact wires and pin connectors to ensure quality and effectiveness.

Compatibility:
Choose a cordless phone battery compatible with your cordless phone brand. If possible, look for the one made by your cordless phone manufacturer. If unavailable, consult your user manual or your retailer for the appropriate battery type.

Maintenance Information

Always completely drain your cordless phone battery before recharging. Determine battery power by using the battery light indicator on your phone.

Once completely drained, place your cordless phone back to its cradle and allow to charge in the recommended time.

NiCad batteries tend to charge longer than NiMH batteries but consult the user manual all the same.
