VHS tapes are recording media made up of a plastic, rectangular cover containing a roll of magnetic tape. They are similar to audiocassette tapes, only bigger and thicker. They are designed to record videos and programs from televisions and other video sources such as S-VHS players, DV players, and DVD players for later playback. The quality of the videos recorded on VHS tapes are passable though not as excellent as the quality of videos recorded on CDs and DVDs. VHS tapes have a standard resolution of 240 lines.
Duration: Choose VHS tapes with a recording duration of 90 to 120 minutes. Tapes with less than 90 minutes may be too short for the duration of an average film, while tapes with more than 120 minutes may affect the quality of the recorded images since they tend to compress the video output to be able to contain more.
