The images it projects is made up of pixels that act act as light shutters that control the amount of light passing through. It contains three separate LCD panels for the red, green, and blue components of the video signal. Generally, an LCD projector can produces clearer images in a dark room, but there are some models that can be used in dimly- or even well-lit room depending on the unit's brightness rating.
An LCD projector has a few disadvantages. The pixels in the images can be visible in a large screen. A burned out pixel can also be noticeable onscreen. Its light source needs to be replaced every so often.
Brightness: Look for an LCD projector with high lumens output to get bright images. For classroom use, look for one with a 1,000 to 2,000 lumens. Choose an LCD projector with a 3,000 to 12,000 lumens for large audience venues such as boardrooms and auditoriums. Contrast ratio: Choose an LCD projector with a large contrast ratio for displaying subtle color details. For superior image quality, look for one with a contrast ratio greater than 1200:1.
