Excellent outdoor option - SD Steel, Jul 20, 2008

Sound great for outdoor patio/balcony use, or other smaller areas. Easiest to use and work best if your stereo has a second line out. Also, if you plan to use these completely cordless, you'll probably want to invest in rechargeable batteries (speakers can recharge them, battery replacement requires a screw driver). Don't forget the cost of the batteries - good batteries can cost more than the speakers!

Working fine as a single outdoor speaker off my amp inside. I selected it because it could output from the tape loop, so I could listen to the same music inside and out and because it could use AC power(I have an outdoor outlet on my deck).

The transmitter is inside a cabinet. It is transmitting clearly through that cabinet and then through the wall. Occasionally it goes to static but then you hit the reset button on the speaker and it fixes itself. One time it was just pure static, and I fixed it by re-booting the transmitter

Quality of the sound itself is OK. As good as you could expect for $60-odd

I bought the AW822 in May 2008 and am very happy with it so far. I previously had an Advent ADVW801 which had failed after 3 years of solid operation. I hope that the AW822 lasts longer than 3 years. The bass response is quite full for a 5" driver and has been a nice surprise. I also like how it auto-tunes and auto-powers with loss of signal.

So far their are two drawbacks. The first is that the "power on" indicator on the front of the transmitter is very bright. It is a blue LED and it will catch your eye at 30 feet. This is just a quirky kind of issue.

The other drawback is that the unit "found" some other signal and tuned to it. I couldn't get it to re-tune to the transmitter. I suspect that one of my neighbors has the same unit but my signal source was closer than any neighbors outside walls of their homes so I'm a bit perplexed by this. Changing the channel did not make a difference. I finally power both units off (turned my stereo off as well) and when I brought them back on-line, the unit retuned to it's transmitter. This has only happened once so I'm not too concerned.

My home is in a typical Chicago suburb on a 1/4 acre lot.

We have found that these speakers work very satisfactorily on our summer screened in porch some distance from the audio source..

I bought these speakers so I could listen to music and ball games while sitting on my new deck. They sound great. It was a snap to set them up. They easily plug into the headphone jack on my stereo. Although I lose the sound from my speakers, I don't need to hear the speakers from inside the house at the same time as I'm sitting on the deck. I have two speakers receiving a signal from one transmitter and I get great stereo sound. I highly recommend the product.
