Security Monitor : What is it?
| Security monitors display video feeds from security cameras. They are mostly similar to television monitors, except that they have no tuning controls and can accept feeds from up to four cameras. Monitors used for closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitoring also have higher resolutions, often reaching 1,000 lines compared to the 550 commonly seen in broadcast televisions.

Black and white security monitors
Black and white monitors display images in grayscale. They can accept feeds from color monitors, but will not display them in color. They are ideal for nighttime monitoring, because they have better light-dark contrast than color screens. Their resolutions range from 700 to 1,000 lines.
Color security monitors
Color security monitors display images in full color, but may also be set to black and white. They usually have lower resolutions, ranging from 350 to 400 lines, although newer models may have up to 500. |

Size: Choose a large security monitor for nighttime monitoring and top-view cameras. This will help you recognize faces faster and capture quick action. Fourteen inches should do for most cathode ray tube monitors, while LCD and flat-screen monitors can be larger.
