Stereo components combine several audio sources into a single system. They consist of a large head unit and two or more speakers. The head unit usually includes a CD player or changer, one or two cassette decks, an AM/FM radio receiver, and a panel containing all the playback controls. The speakers may be placed beside the player or distributed across the room for a surround sound effect. Most modern sets are remote-controlled and support digital audio formats such as mp3 and wma.
Speakers: Choose a stereo component with 5.1 surround sound speakers or higher to get better sound quality. Make sure all the speakers are voice-matched and properly positioned for a consistent sound.
Supported media: Choose a stereo component that reads from all forms of media, including computer-based ones like flash drives and memory cards. Look for one with an analog-to-digital converter that allows you to play older formats and save radio programs.
