Cologne : What is it?
| Colognes add fragrance to the body and provide a light, fresh feeling. They primarily distinguished from perfumes by their composition – perfumes are oil-based, while colognes are water-or alcohol-based. Because alcohol is volatile, colognes dry quickly and leave the scent on the skin. While perfume scents can last all day, colognes are easily washed off and have to be reapplied frequently. Colognes are commonly associated with men's fragrances, although women's and children's colognes are also available. They are commonly sold in bottles or spray canisters. |

Base: Choose an alcohol-based cologne that evaporates quickly on your skin. Water-based colognes take longer to evaporate and can attract dirt. Make sure the base is light and does not overpower the scent of the perfume oil.
Application: Choose a cologne that spreads easily onto your skin with minimum drip. Look for one with a thin, light consistency for faster drying. Choose a spray-on perfume to apply over larger areas and avoid over-applying the scent.
