An eyeliner is a cosmetic product used for outlining the eye, accentuating them to make them appear larger or smaller than they really are. It comes in pencil or liquid form usually in brown and black.
Applying the eyeliner to the eyes takes practice and patience especially since the skin surrounding the eyes is very sensitive. To achieve a smooth and consistent line, pull the upper or lower eyelid tautly before application.
An eyeliner pencil is the most common type of eyeliner and the easiest to apply.
It provides a more natural look that blends well with the lashes.
It is sharpened and warmed gently in the hand every time it is used.
It is applied in little strokes instead of one continuous line to create a softer and more natural look.
It can also be softened with a sponge tip.
It can last as long as three years.
Liquid eyeliner
A liquid eyeliner is the most difficult to apply, but it is the most precise in creating thin and intense lines.
Application starts at the center of the upper eyelid. Create a line to the outside corner before reversing the brush to use the excess product to complete the inner line starting from the center again.
It should be replaced every three to six months to avoid eye infections.
