Guide to Ice Packs

Ice Pack : What is it?

Ice Packs

Ice packs are plastic pouches containing frozen substances such as refrigerant gel, crushed or cubed ice, frozen beans or corns, or chemicals. They are placed over injured body parts to absorb the heat in edematous or closed traumatic injuries. They are also used to reduce the pain of minor injuries. They must be applied immediately after the occurrence of the injury and left for about 20 minutes to be effective.

The process of putting an ice pack over an injured part of the body is called ice massage therapy or cold therapy. It reduces pain and treats sore areas in the back, shoulder, and neck.
