Partial dentures replace multiple missing teeth in adjacent or separate parts of the gum. The tooth and gum areas are usually made of acrylic plastic and mounted on a metal framework. They also come with metal clasps that hook onto the existing gum or tooth. Most partial dentures are custom-made to fit the gum area and the type of tooth being replaced.
Stability: Choose partial dentures that hook firmly in place and will not wobble or slide. Make sure the base fits the curve of your mouth and does not press onto your gums. Nylon dentures are usually more flexible and are easier to fit.
Durability: Choose partial dentures made of heavy-duty acrylic. Make sure the teeth are hard enough to resist impact and regular chewing. Look for those with a gloss coating to keep food and plaque from clinging to the denture.
