Perfume : What is it?
| Perfumes are used to add a pleasing scent to the body. They are usually made from aromatic oils extracted from plants, animals, and synthetic sources, which are diluted in various carrier oils to soften the scents. Perfume scents are divided into the top note, middle note, and base note. The top note is the initial scent perceived upon application, while the middle and base notes form the main scent of the perfume. Top notes usually have a sharp scent, while middle notes are more mellow. Base notes are strong scents that accent the middle and top notes. |

Kinds of Perfumes include the following: |
Perfume oils
- Perfume oils are entirely oil-based and usually strongly scented.
- They are ideal for users with dry or sensitive skin because they are not as harsh as alcohol-based perfumes.
Eau du parfum
- Eau du parfum contains 15% to 30% aromatic compounds.
- They are fairly long-lasting, but are not as strong as perfume oils.
Eau du cologne
- Eau du cologne may be water- or alcohol-based and has a concentration of 5% to 15%.
- Men's scents have 5% to 8% aromatics, while women's scents have about 3%.
Eau du toilette
- Eau du toilette contains 3% to 5% aromatic compounds.
- They have a relatively weak scent and are often generously applied after showers or baths.
Solid perfumes
- Solid perfumes are made from perfume oils mixed with melted beeswax, usually molded into balls or compact boxes.
- They are also suitable for sensitive skin because the beeswax dilutes the aromatics of perfume oils.

Dry-down time: Choose a perfume that dries quickly on your skin. Avoid heavy perfumes because they take longer to dry and can collect in the folds of your skin, which may cause irritation. Alcohol-based perfumes usually dry the fastest.
Concentration: Choose a perfume that lasts several hours without feeling oily or sticky. Look for a light perfume with a moderately strong scent. If you have sensitive or sweat-prone skin, choose a solid perfume to achieve the same strong scent with a milder formulation.
