A power chair, also called an electric or power wheelchair, is a mobility chair used for transporting disabled persons, making it a great alternative to the traditional wheelchair. It is powered electrically and steered using a joystick. It has a good turning ability. It is considered the indoor counterpart of a mobility scooter, as it is typically designed for indoor use. It is ideal for disabled people with limited upper body strength.
Leg rest: Choose a power chair with a leg rest for elevating the feet at the best and most comfortable position. Make sure it has a swing-away feature that allows it to be tucked away when boarding and leaving the chair.
Height: Choose a power chair that does not drag your feet on the floor. There should be a one- to two-inch clearance from the heel to the bend in the knee, minus the thickness of the cushion.
