If you were around in the ‘70s, the words "curling iron" may bring back haunting memories of big complicated hairdos and Farrah-Fawcett wings. But times have changed and curling irons are now low-fuss and gentler on hair than they were in the past. This Satin Finish model has a ceramic-coated barrel, which distributes heat evenly without creating frizz or hair damage like the curling irons of the earlier years. The ceramic technology also prevents the curling iron from sticking to hair and even promotes silky, shiny hair.

For quick styling, the Satin Finish instantly heats up 60 seconds after powering up and offers 30 different heat settings on its adjustable dial to accommodate all hair types. To create consistently perfect curls, the curling iron employs a feature called the Uniform Heat Recovery System. This system transfers heat from the barrel to hair during curling, causing the barrel to cool down slightly, and then resumes its former temperature before you curl the next section of hair.

The 1-inch barrel on this curling iron is an all-purpose size that can curl hair under, flip ends up, or create wider ringlets or free-flowing curls. For safety, this curling appliance has a heat-resistant shield that slides over the barrel while it’s heating up or for storage. Other safety precautions include a cool tip on the end of the barrel; a built-in stand to raise the curler off the countertop; a power light; and a 6-inch tangle-free, swiveling cord. Conair provides a two-year limited warranty on its Satin Finish curling irons. --Cristina Vaamonde

simply wonderful!!! - bluebell, Nov 10, 2006

This is a great product well worth it's price. I own Conair straightening iron as well and use them both regularly. I have to say the straightening iron is one of the best things in my life--I have thick hair that gets very frizzy and with Conair straightening iron my hair is smooth and shiny like never before. The curling iron on the other hand gives beautiful soft curls. It heats instantly and has a wide range of temepearture settings and has auto-shut off. They are simply wonderful little gadgets that makes my day brighter!

One of the best for this price! - Susan A. Gatt, Jul 06, 2006

I have this curling iron in 2 sizes and I have found it to be fantastic. I have fine hair and this heats quickly and curls well. The ceramic surface and clip don't tug my hair and the heat sheath that comes with this iron is great for home or travel use. I'm buying a second one because I've used mine to the point where I don't want to clean the hairspray off it any more (my fault -- not the iron's!).

Very solid technology; don't hesitate - EJ, Nov 09, 2005

I read other reviewer's statements and cannot comment as to why her unit was unacceptable for her. But I can say that I've found this item to be exceedingly functional: heats very quickly, range of heat settings proves enormously useful, and unit works very well. I have thick-shafted hair that does not take curl easily, yet this curling iron works well, and quickly so. Furthermore, it does not at all pull the hair: the ceramic coating makes for very smooth and pain-free/tug-free operation. It is the same technology that has received high reviews in all other barrel widths, among the new Conair ceramic curling irons. Don't hesitate. Note that I do have smaller hands, and some folks have commented (re: other iron widths) that the dial for the heat settings can too easily be turned while using. I HAVE NOT FOUND THIS PROBLEM, and can only say this unit has satisfied my requirements for an accessory item of this sort. I would not hesitate to purchase this item at all, and recommend it highly.

Barely works... - K. Noah, Jul 20, 2004

I have very fine, almost stick-straight hair. Hair like mine shouldn't be too hard to curl witha good curling iron, but this will only curl the last inch of my hair! I've tried raising the heat setting and leaving it in my hair longer, but I keep getting the same result - straight hair with just one little curl at the very end.
