Rating : Best Sthetoscope so far - A. Heikal, Mar 12, 2008
This is my best stethoscope ever!
As an Internist and a medical educator over the last 30 years I have owned basically all the stethoscopes on the market (Littman electronic, Littman Master cardiology I II III, Master Cardilogy, Littman Classic, Rappaport, Siemens electronic, and many others mostly now discontinued brands).
The ds32a ambient noise suppression feature alone makes it a worthwhile purchase.
This stethoscope is currently the "Gold Standard" others will have to emulate. Easily 5/5.
It is now 2 months later. With 820 auscultations under its belt the ds32a is still going strong. Batteries have not even been changed!
One minor annoyance to report; I do not know if it is just me or everybody: I have some cerumen accumulation in both canals where before using the ds32a there was none.
The earpieces conform so well to the ear canals that they seem to interfere with the cerumen natural "conveyor belt" removal mechanism.
Rating : Best yet-Stethoscope/Phonocardiograph - Q. Shafiq, Jan 10, 2008
I bought it online from the company at 4:30 AM. Company shipped through Fedex ground service per my order on the same day. I got it in my hands a day earlier. It's a lightweight steth. I am a resident physician and frequently use it daily. I find it much better than my Litmann Cardio steth. The recording function and ability to visualize what you hear is the main reason I bought it and I intend to use it for research as well. I recommend it especially for those people who are involved in teaching.
Rating : Much better than the Littman - Ari Melmed, Jan 27, 2006
At a recent medical conference, I recently listened to both the Thinklabs and the Littman 4000. There's no doubt that the Thinklabs is a much better stethoscope. While both amplify the heart sounds, the Thinklabs offers much better noise reduction giving the listener an improved signal:noise ratio. The Littman just amplified everything which allowed me to listen to nearby conversations but gave me no more information as to what was happening in the thorax in question.
Although the Thinklabs scope doesn't have the brand name I've been used to for >20 years, I feel they've produced a product that needs to be taken seriously. At about half the cost (!!) of the Littman, the decision as to which stethoscope to buy becomes a no-brainer.
I've been using the Thinklabs in an ER where ambient noise is always a problem. I've found it to be a huge improvement over my old Littman Cardiology II. The scope is durable (I've owned it for over a year, without any problems so far) and comfortable. The ear pieces are of a unique design which seems to provide a better seal.
I've been very happy with my purchase and would recommend the scope without reservations.
Rating : Thinklabs leads a new age for auscultation - Lesley Lange, Jan 17, 2006
This stethoscope tops all I have tried in the past 20 years of medical practice. This comment is based on ease of use, exceptional and true sound quality, light weight, comfort, impressive sound range coupled with excellent ambient noise reduction. I highly recommend it for the novice and expert auscultator interested in maximizing their skills (for patient good). I ask, what took the digital age so long to mature in the field of cardiac auscultation? It puts the enjoyment back into medicine for me!
