Product Description

The Wahl Groomsman Beard and Mustache Trimmer is exactly what you need to keep your beard in precisely optimal shape.

Amazon.com

For daily beard maintenance or for making a big change to facial hair, Wahl’s Groomsman trimmer is the device you need. The Groomsman’s high-carbon steel blades are precision-ground to provide a close cut and stay sharp longer. A six-position beard regulator easily attaches to the trimmer’s head to provide consistent and safe tapering and trimming of beards and mustaches. The six positions range from a height that tackles longer hairs, (for example, if you are shaving off your beard) all the way down to a short height for trimming daily stubble. For convenience, the beard regulator remembers the last set length height until you change it.

For additional comfort during shaving, the Groomsman has a contoured ergonomic handle with soft gripping pads for a secure grasp. The Groomsman operates either plugged in via its electric charger, or runs on its long-lasting nickel-cadmium battery which is estimated to last three to five years before needing replacement. The trimmer and charger are small enough to stash in the included pouch for travel along with the accessories--the beard regulator, the jaw line blender, two close-trim attachments, a mustache comb, cleaning oil, and a cleaning brush. A storage stand holds the trimmer and all accompanying accoutrements in your regular trimming location. Wahl’s Groomsman trimmer is covered by a two-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

good product - J. Stoll, May 17, 2008

Battery life is excellent, I can use it 10 times without recharging. Compact design. Feels cheap but solid. Recommended.

Nice trimmer, loud. - F. Mathew, May 15, 2008

The trimmer works. It has awkward attachments, and it loud. But its better than the Norelco flimsy trimmers.

You get what you pay for. - Jack Apple, Apr 18, 2008

I had a Wahl that served me well for several years. I dropped it and it broke so I bought this as a replacement. The body is sturdier than the previous, but there are other aspects about it that pall in comparison. There is no little cup to catch hair clippings, the on/off switch is very cheap, the razor is very loud, and none of the cheap plastic attachments fit quite right, making the whole affair a bit uncomfortable. It's made in China. It is what it is. I'll probably just splurge and get myself a real professional grade electric razor, which is what I should have done to begin with.

Great cut - John, Apr 17, 2008

Despite the fact that I bought this trimmer at Walmart for $ 19.95, when I use it, it feels like a razor of much higher price and value. It cuts very well and I am very pleased with the result. On the short, "stubble" setting, I get an absolutely excellent result.

I do agree that the plastic attachments are cheap and it is kind of bogus that we have to switch them out for each different setting (a different attachment for each beard length. So I give this product four, instead of five stars.

First the good things-
1) sharp blades and the cutting edge is close to the skin surface.
2) ability to operate with the cord connected.

The Bad -
The construction (and yes, have no doubts, it is Made in China) is so bad. Though the trimmer feels solid, if you look at the edges, you will see the ugly finish of the product. The plastic with which the guides have been made is not that flimsy(though i dont mean it is sturdy); but the way they have designed the insertion mechanisms and the length selector mechanism is so mindless that the plastic guide will break eventually, like mine did. It is so hard to fix the guide on to the trimmer; and once you fix it, if you want to take it out, you have to use so much force that you will fear if it would break.
The stubble guide also has the same story. I actually injured myself trying to get the thing from the trimmer. It is so damn hard to take it out once you put it in.

I wonder why would they make it this way. Once you break the guide or the beard regulator attachments, the thing is rendered useless. So, why dont they improve the locking mechanisms and improve the quality of the plastic used??? I would strongly advice to try some other brands who give a little more importance to quality and put some thinking into the product!
Ha, the bag is a joke; well, not much complaints here because i dont intend to keep it in a bag.
Then the noise - it IS loud. After using it around your sideburns area, and once you switch it off, you will hear the beauty of silence! But not much complaints here too, because, i think it is standard with trimmers though may not be as noisy as this one.
People say for 20$, you cannot expect much!! Give a little more respect to your hard earned money! Thats all...
