Tanning Lotion : What is it?
| Tanning lotions create artificial tans without exposing the skin to sunlight. They contain natural and synthetic chemicals that react with the skin and induce temporary color changes. The most common ingredient in tanning lotions is DHA, a skin-safe organic compound. Most brands also contain copper, melanin- and L-tyrosine in various levels, depending on the desired shade of the tan. Tea oils and herbal extracts are often included to minimize the harmful effects of the chemicals, as well as add fragrance to enhance the tanning experience. |
