Product Description

Barista grade control for a variety of coffee grinds. The removable bean hopper holds 1/2 a pound of coffee beans. The motor drives the bottom burrs and the top plate is stationary. The distance you position them apart precisely determines grind size. The easy-to-read settings allow for grind choices from ultra-fine for Turkish coffee to large and coarse for percolators.

We made do with a blade grinder for years, simply because I thought burr grinders were only for the espresso crowd. If that description sounds like you, or if you're getting by on the pre-grinded stuff, you really ought to get one of these. This unit is sturdy but unobtrusive. There are settings to fiddle with, but we never touch the dial. Just pour in the beans and push the button. Beans are grinded in about the time it takes to grab a filter from the cabinet and rinse out the caraffe. The dispenser can be a little messy but who cares? This is the one you need so click away.

This is the first burr grinder with which I have any experience. So, I cannot compare to others. However, this one is working just fine for me at the moment.

I bought this grinder after being very disappointed with the "Cuisinart Supreme Grind Burr Coffee Grinder". I was looking for a burr grinder mainly for French Press coffee, and the Cuisinart didn't produce a very uniform, coarse grind (and it also created a lot of static, which flung the coffee grounds everywhere). So, I decided to spend a bit more on the Breville, after reading a LOT of online reviews...and I'm SO glad I decided to get this one! It produces a perfect coarse grind for french press coffee, with no sludge at the bottom of the cup. (Also, I didn't find the shape of the hopper a problem, as others had noted. I was able to get my tablespoon in there just fine.) I'm not sure how this machine would do for Espresso, but if you're looking for the perfect French Press grinder, this is it!

I had to return this item because it appeared to have a small dent in the steel, which was probably made during manufacturer. I am so impressed that Amazon immediately sent out a new one as soon as I printed the return label. It was a few days before I got to the post office. . .and the new one arrived the same afternoon that I dropped off the return! The best customer service ever. I love the grinder; did not experience static after the first time (you throw out the first half cup of ground coffee anyway). Throw out those nasty blade grinders! Enjoying my lattes every weekend and filtered coffee during the week. Great value.

I recently upgraded from a blade grinder to the Breville. I wish I had upgraded sooner. The machine is quiet and gives a consistent grind. The static, which all grinders have to contend with, seems to get better the more I use it. At first it was super charged. This however is consistent with even the manual grinders. The only thing I needed to get used to was finding the timer selection for the number of cups I wanted to brew. This was not really a problem. All in all a great grinder and would recommend this one highly.
