The heater works very well at heating up the entire room without any fan - all through convection. And it is quiet for the most part. At night the metal expand and contracts while heating up and cooling down, thereby making loud clacking noises every few seconds. We expected a completely quiet heater, so we are disappointed. It has not been loud enough to wake us up at night, but once we are awake it is hard to go back to sleep hearing the clacking.

Got this Heater a few years ago and have used it off and on for various reasons. It's a well built, basic design, convection type heater. No glowing, thin wires, which means it safe. Not easy to tip over and for a Space Heater, it does a nice job.

I recently went to a Heat Pump to supplement my oil fired base board heat, that was costing us so much in oil. That left our Den, which we use all the time, cooler than any other room in the house. So I dragged out the Slant Fin to help. It is doing the job.

It's not bad looking, stable, and has a thermostat that works fine. It has a light indicating when it's plugged in and one that indicates when it is heating. It is quiet with no fan.

If you don't expect too much from a Space Heater, you will be pleased with this model.

This unit works well to heat a 20x12 room which only has one heating vent in the far end of the room. It takes about 30 minutes before the room is fairly warm. I would say this is a good purchase decision if you just need a little extra heat and want something that looks ok too.

I bought this heater and a Slant/Fin humidifier... mostly because i read really good things about the companies dedication to quality.... well, I either have the worst luck in the world, or that quality is just a myth. The heater worked ok at first... takes a while to heat up a large room, but its completely silent and there are no odors. However, every now and then, the overheat alarm would go off (and its a very ANNOYING an loud alarm). Besides having to rush to the heater to find it in perfect operating condition and still having to shut it down, it was necessary to leave it off until it completely cooled off, in order to restart it in the same spot... and then everything would be ok. The alarm now goes off almost after an hour and does not stop. It would cost me more to send the heater to Slant/Fin than to buy a new one. Very similar problem with their humidifier.
I know one thing, and that is that I am avoiding Slant/Fin products from now on.
