Coffee Roaster : What is it?
| Coffee roasters cook coffee beans to prepare them for grinding, extract their flavors, and obtain their signature dark color. They consist of a coffee bean chamber, a heating element, a lever for stirring the beans, and a tray for holding the finished products. They come in different sizes and usually run on AC power. |

Kinds of Coffee Roasters include the following: |
Drum roasters
- Drum roasters have cylindrical containers for holding the coffee beans.
- The heat is transferred directly from the drum into the beans.
- They roast more evenly than fluid beds and create a rounder, fuller flavor.
Fluid bed roasters
- Fluid bed roasters create a layer or “bed” of hot air over which the beans are roasted.
- They are also called high-yield roasters because the beans expand when roasted, producing more coffee when ground.
- They usually produce a less rounded and developed flavor.
Tabletop roasters
- Tabletop or stovetop roasters are small pans that roast coffee beans on electric or gas burners.
- They allow users to add flavors like sugar, cinnamon, and ginger to be grond with the coffee afterwards.
- They are usually expensive and hard to find.

Capacity: For home use, choose a coffee roaster that holds 100 to 500 grams of coffee. Avoid large capacities because the beans will be harder to stir, which may result in uneven roasting.
Thermostat: Choose a coffee roaster with a built-in thermostat to help you monitor temperature and roast levels. Look for one with preset times and temperatures for light, medium, and dark roasts.
