We purchased this unit in April 09. At first I absolutely loved it. It makes great bread. Easy and user friendly. I liked that you can remove the blade (when you remember)
But, after about 6 months the plastic hinges that holds the lid in place have cracked and broken off so it no longer stays in place. Each time we open the bread maker it falls off. Since it is really hot you easily get burned.
I called Cuisinart today to request a replacement. Well it is going to cost me. They charge you for shipping you a new unit and then you have to send the old one back at your own expense. I can tell you it can get expensive since the product alone weighs 25 pounds.
I am extremely disappointed and I will not purchase another Cuisinart product.

So far I've made about four loaves in my machine, and many more dough (pizza, rolls, and specialty bread). I'm impressed and I have quickly converted my family from store breads to our own made at home. I like knowing the ingredient list is about 4-8 items deep and not 20 unpronounceable ingredients.

Well, I read all the reviews on this machine and a lot of people were reporting problems, but I have always had good luck with Cuisinart so I trusted my instincts and went ahead and ordered it.... Well after 3 loafs of bread I'm glad I trusted myself. This machine is great, I have had none of the problems a lot of the others report having...My first loaf collapsed but that was my fault, to much liquid, since then perfection. I would buy another and would recommend it to anyone, easy to use, great bread and comes with a bunch of good recipes.

I have celiac disease and this machine creates terrific gluten-free bread. Easy to use and clean. My non-celiac kids and grand-kids love Beth Hensperger's recipe for Chickpea/Rice/Tapioca Flour Bread recipe from her Bread Lover's Bread Machine Cookbook. Celiacs or wheat sensitive users need to dedicate a bread machine to Gluten Free breads to avoid cross-contamination. At the great price for this macine, you could have a second one for breads with gluten!

Have an old Pillsbury machine of my mother-in-law's that makes a better loaf than this one. I wanted the bigger, horizontal loaf, so that's why I decided to order the Cuisinart. Can't get this one to vary the thickness/lightness of the crust at all. It's always too heavy/dark. The size of the pan really needs two kneading paddles. As it is, with one paddle, there are lots of dips and swirls even in plain old white bread, which should have an even texture. Never had a loaf absolutely fail, but for the money, the size, & the claims made by the manufacturer, this one should work better. Thanks to Amazon's great return policy, I was able to return it with no hassle at all.
