Guide to DJ Lights

DJ Light : What is it?

djlight1

DJ lights are used not just to light up rooms but also to create special effects during parties or stage performances. They usually come in multiple colors and move in programmed patterns across the room, stage, or venue. They are also available in different types of fixtures, such as strobes, recessed cases, and goosenecks.

Kinds of DJ Lights include the following:

Stage lights (DJ lights)

Stage lights are used to illuminate and set the tone on dance floors. They usually come in parabolic or cylindrical fixtures called par cans. They are commonly installed in pairs on either side of the dance floor for even lighting.

Moonflowers (DJ lights)

Moonflowers have one or more light bulbs that bounce and refract against each other. They are very cost-effective, because a single bulb can be projected throughout the room. Some models are static, using only a mirror on the front to reflect the light.

Beamers (DJ lights)

Beamers are directional lights that emit solid beams onto dance floors. They are commonly used with fill lights and stage lights to add depth to the dance area. Some are designed to pulse according to the music or in preset patterns.

Strobe lights (DJ lights)

Strobe lights emit small, intermittent beams from walls or ceilings. They create a freeze-frame or slow-motion effect ideal for dance floors.

Lasers (DJ lights)

Laser lights have fine, concentrated beams used for lighting small areas. High-end models can be programmed to write on walls or other specific patterns. Fog machines are often used to enhance the beams and make them look sharper.

Choosing DJ Lights (Buying Tips)

Patterns: Choose a DJ light that you can set to move in preset patterns. Look for one with a random setting to add more variety to your lighting. For large outdoor directional lights, look for slow, simple patterns to avoid distracting nearby areas.

Bulb type:
Choose a DJ light that uses halogen or fluorescent bulbs to reduce energy consumption. Incandescent bulbs tend to overheat and burn out quickly. Consider getting a dimmer for brighter lights to control brightness in specific areas.
