DJ Mixer : What is it?
| DJ mixers are used to mix audio samples into single tracks. They obtain pre-recorded samples from external sources such as CDs, microphone inputs, and computer hard drives. They can also add effects such as scratches, loops, and multiple sound layers.
DJ mixers are distinguished from other mixers by crossfaders, which allow one sound clip to fade out as another fades in. Connectivity: Choose a DJ mixer that you can connect to computers for polishing and editing. A standard USB connection should work for general mixing, but a FireWire connection is better for large file sizes, such as multilayered mixes. Also look for those with adapters for older formats like vinyl records and cassettes.
